ASPAC Boys defeat Engineering All-Stars

The ASPAC Boys got their first win in the 2015 APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2nd Conference by defeating the Engineering All-Stars, 89-74, on Saturday, October 3, at the APC Gymnasium.

Tensions ran high between the teams in the 3rd quarter as the ASPAC Boys logged their biggest lead at 11 points at the 4:12 mark. James Magbitang of ASPAC Boys and Jerome Belen of the All-Stars had to be pacified by officials before anything worse happened. Audience members rooting for the ASPAC Boys were also warned for their jeering.

First Conference Mythical team member Mark Pagaduan led the ASPAC Boys in scoring, with a career-high 32 points, while also grabbing 13 rebounds. At the Engineering All-Stars side, Jerome Belen led his team with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

The Engineering All-Stars had a fourth-quarter rally and tied the game thrice, due to a late-game run led by Belen, team captain Robby Valenzuela, and Deo Eduarte. Their efforts to gain the lead, however, were cancelled by missed shots at the latter part of the final period, plus the scoring spree by ASPAC Boys’ Pagaduan.

ASPAC will be up against Team Legacy on October 10 while the All-Stars will meet Team OGs on the same day.
