Dream Team drubs Rebels, clinches Women’s Division championship

Dream Team notched their fourth victory in the APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2nd Conference Women’s Division series by defeating Team Rebels, 41-29, on Saturday, November 7 at the APC Gymnasium.

With the win, the Dream Team becomes the champion of the 6-game Women’s Division series.

All of the players for the Dream Team contributed to their scoring output, led by Krizia Valdez with 12 points, followed by Shana Santos with 8 points and team captain Casey Carrillo with 7 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists.

Jenny Francisco led the Rebels in scoring with 12 points, and grabbed 11 boards. Ella Taroma, who only played in the second half contributed 9 points. Team captain Chloe Cambay had an off-night, missing all of her 14 field goals.

For the first three quarters, both teams kept the game close, with five ties and six lead changes, and no team lead more than five points. In the fourth quarter, Team Rebels kept missing their shots and committed consecutive turnovers. This gave the Dream Team a chance to pull away and gained a double-digit lead with less than two minutes remaining.

The awarding ceremonies for the Women’s Division will be held on December 12 after the Men’s Division finals.

A no-bearing sixth game between the two teams, with mixed rosters, is currently being discussed. It will take place before the finals of the Men’s Division series.
