The Dream Team got their second win in the APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) Women’s division six-game series by defeating Team Rebels, 46-45, on Saturday, September 26, at the APC Gymnasium.
Six of the seven players in the Dream Team contributed to their team’s scoring chores, led by team captain Casey Carrillo, who had a second double-double game with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Raisa Nasara led all players in the rebounding category, grabbing 18 rebounds. For Team Rebels, only three players were able to score points: Jenny Francisco (21 points), Chloe Cambay (18 points), and Ella Taroma (6 points).
Dream Team was leading the whole game with as much as 12 points in the fourth quarter, but they started to miss their shots with 5 minutes left in the game. This gave the Rebels an opportunity to have an 11-0 run and close their gap to just one point with 20 seconds remaining.
The Rebels had two chances to tie the game, but their free throw woes haunted them, with their attempts split on both occasions.
Both teams will be facing each other again on October 3.
