Engineering All-Stars survive close encounter with Burn-Out

The Engineering All-Stars won their second game in the 2015 APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2nd Conference elimination round by defeating Team Burn-Out, 66-62, on Saturday, October 17 at the APC Gymnasium.

Despite Burn-Out fielding only five players for their third consecutive game, they were able to pull off a tight game against the All-Stars, who had a much complete lineup unlike their game against the OGs on October 10.

Deo Eduarte led the All-Stars in scoring with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Robby Valenzuela and Jerome Belen also contributed heavily, with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

EJ Sulit led all scorers for Burn-Out with 27 points, 15 of which came from beyond the three-point line. JP Carbonilla was in second place with 18 points, with 12 from the rainbow arc.

While the All-Stars led most of the game, they were not able to break it wide open, as Burn-Out kept on hitting their shots in the three-point arc. Tensions rose in the fourth quarter, when Burn-Out was able to regain the lead. BJ Levita and Jerome Belen were assessed with technical fouls due to trash-talking, and were restrained to prevent any altercations.

With 2 minutes left in the game, the All-Stars regained the lead with 4 points. Burn-Out tried to decrease the lead in the final seconds when EJ Sulit attempted a three-point shot. He was fouled by Belen in the act of shooting but it was ruled that there was no time left.

The next game for the All-Stars will be on October 31 against the Bumblebees while Burn-out will try to notch their first win against Team Legacy on October 24.
