The UP Boleras tallied their first win in the APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2016 season by defeating the Ram Squad in a lopsided game, 101-20 on August 6 at the APC Gymnasium.
Five players from the Boleras scored in double digits, led by Mileth Gutierrez with 16 points plus 6 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Mec Fajardo shot four out of five at the three point arc, finishing with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.
For the Ram Squad, Jen Francisco was the lone bright spot with 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
From the opening buzzer, the Boleras showed their playing prowess, and even held the Ram Squad down to score only two points in the second quarter. Turnovers also became a perennial problem for the Ram Squad, as they have committed 41 turnovers against 9 from Boleras.
The Boleras continued to outdo the Ram Squad up to the 4th quarter, hitting the century mark with 22 seconds remaining in the game.
The Boleras will face KOTC champions Team Keng’s on August 13.
