APCRAA Basketball Tournament 2017 season opens Saturday

Two men’s division games and one women’s division game will be featured as the Asia Pacific College Rams Alumni Association (APCRAA) Basketball Tournament 2017 season set to tip off on Saturday, July 8 at the APC Gymnasium.

The game between defending men’s division champion Team Bumblebees and Cav Guards will serve as the curtainraiser of the tournament at 5:00pm. The Bumblebees will try to continue their winning streak as they have not lost a single game since last year en route to their championship victory. Meanwhile, the Cav Guards are aiming for a good start this season to prevent an early exit in the tournament which they have experienced last year.

Meanwhile, the first game of the five-game women’s division series will be the second game for Saturday’s tripleheader at 6:30pm. After merging as a single team last season, Dream Team and Team Rebels, now renamed as Team Rams, will split up this year. In lieu of a regular round-robin tournament, a five-game series was formed between the two participating team, similar on what was done during the 2015 Second Conference.

Two pioneer teams in the men’s division, Team OG’s and Team Avengers, will face-off in the third and final game of the night at 8:00pm. The OGs were able to enter the semifinals in last year’s playoffs while Team Avengers, who were previously known as Team Warriors from 2015 to 2016, will try for a better team performance this season after not being able to enter the playoff round.

All realtime game results will be posted at the APCRAA Basketball Tournament website (http://apcraa.web.geniussports.com) via FIBA LiveStats.
