Four way MVP race as Men’s Division elimination round wraps up
The MVP race in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) 2017 season men’s division became a tight one as the elimination round wrapped up on August 12.
Jon Batuhan of Team OGs garnered the most number of statistical points so far with 234 SPs and an average of 46.8 SPs in 5 games. Mark Pagaduan has the highest average SPs with 53.25, after getting a total of 213 SPs in four games. Brix Estabillo, slid down in third place, finishing the eliminations with 200 total and 40 average SPs. Reigning MVP Norman Ringor is at fourth place with 189 total SP and 37.8 average SP.
Meanwhile, Mark Jerome Rivera of Team Alpha is currently leading in the Rookie of the Year race, followed by Rey Eje of Team Avengers and John Carlo Hermo of Team Cavs.
In the Most Improved Player award, Ronnie Corsino of Team Cavs and Levi Pe Benito of Team ASPAC is in a close race.

Statistical points are computed as follows:
-1 SP for every point scored, rebound, assist, steal and shot blocked.
-Deduction of 1 SP for every turnover, 5 SP for every technical or flagrant foul without ejection, and 15 SP for any technical or flagrant foul that results in an ejection.
-Additional 10 SP will be added for every game won wherein the player saw action
-Additional 15 SP will be added for every playoff game won wherein the player saw action
-Total SPs will then be divided for the total number of games the player saw action
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) will be determined at the conclusion of the tournament with the following criteria:
-60% Average statistical points
-40% ABT Committee votes
