ASPAC wins last stand, edges Mille in epic double overtime

Team ASPAC won their final game of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) 2018 season elimination round by defeating Team Mille, 125-119, on Saturday, September 8 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.

The game broke several league records, despite both teams having only six players available in their lineups.
It set the records for most team points in a game, most combined points in a game, and most team points in a lost game. It also set three individual records.
ASPAC’s rookie Nico Conta had his best game this season, scoring 30 points and grabbing 30 boards – the new record for most rebounds in a game. Carlo Aboboto, who was not substituted out for the game, played a total of 50 minutes, breaking the old record of 42:33 minutes set by John Carlo Hermo during the double-overtime game between Team Cavs and Team Avengers last season. Aboboto finished the game with 36 points, 18 rebounds and 7 assists.

Team Mille’s AJ Yambao became the first player for their team to have a triple-double game, finishing with 31 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 3 steals. Team captain Ryan Acdal had 31 points, plus 7 rebounds 3 assists and 3 steals.

It was a see-saw battle, as both teams were tied 14 times and the lead changed hands 26 times throughout the game.

Three Mille players got fouled out in the second overtime, giving Team ASPAC, the defending champions from last season, a chance to seal the victory and end their season on a positive note.

The win gives ASPAC a 4-3 win loss record and tied at third place with OGs and Bumblebees. However, ASPAC stays at 5th place due to inferior quotient and will not able to defend their crown, while OGs and Bumblebees advances to the semifinals getting the 3rd and 4th place respectively.
