Bumblebees draw first blood, get first win vs. Titans

Team Bumblebees scored their first victory in the 2018 season of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) against Team Titans, 80-78 on Saturday, July 7 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.

Brix Estabillio led the charge for Team Bumblebees, finishing with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists. 2016 Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardee Norman Ringor helped in the offensive charge, finishing with a double-double stat line of 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Titans, formerly named as Team Cavs last season, were led by their rookie Jaime Juadines, who finished the game with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Just behind Juadines is Ronnie Corsino, with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

With new players on Team Titan’s helm, they kept the game close against the 2016 runners-up. However, the Bumblebees got the upper hand by the final quarter, leading by as much as 13 points. Team Titans got their second wind and was able to decrease the lead by 2 points with 53 seconds left in the game, thanks to a 8-point spark from Juardines. The Bumblebees were able to seal their first win after Ken Villas made his two free throws in the insuing play.

The Bumblebees will be back in action on July 21 against Team Mille while Team Titans will play on July 14 versus Team OGs.
