Knights survive Mille onslaught

Team Knights notched their second victory in the 2018 season of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) elimination round, surviving a late-game Team Mille comeback in overtime, 102-96, on Saturday, July 28 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.

Knights team captain Jhonel De Luna led his team with 24 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Alex Tagle came in second with 18 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists, nearly getting a triple-double.

Mille’s Rudyard Sunga became the top scorer of the game, scoring 25 points with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Chris Javier is not far behind, with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists.

Team Knights were ahead most of the game but a 11-4 Mille run in the fourth quarter fueled by Chris Javier, Jarret Adam and Ryan Acdal got them close enough and was able to tie the game 90-all at the end of regulation.

In the extension period, Javier continued his scoring prowess and was able to grab the lead for Team Mille. However, Team Knights were able to regain control of the game thanks to their bench scorers.

Team Knights will be in action on August 4 against Team Bumblebees while Team Mille will return on August 11 facing Team Titans.
