Titans survive late-game OGs scare

Team Titans got away with their first win in the 2018 season of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) elimination round and survived a fourth quarter rally against Team OGs, 106-97 on Saturday, July 14 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.

Titans veteran Ronnie Corsino led the team with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Their three rookies also had a remarkable game, led by Jaime Juadines who finished with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists followed by Gelo Visconde (17 points, 17 rebounds) and Jerl Ferrer (18 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists)

Mhar Paraiso headed the OG’s charge with 30 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Jon Timbre added to his team’s scoring output with 26 points (6/13 in the three point arc) while JP Redelick contributed 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists while playing for Team OGs for the whole 40 minutes without being substituted.

The Titans got the game’s early start thanks to the trio of Juadines, Corsino and Visconde, setting up a 16-point lead against OGs at the end of the third quarter, 84-68. Team OGs bounced back with a 14-4 run at the start of the fourth quarter, thanks to the rainbow shots of Jon Timbre and JP Redelick, decreasing the Titans lead by 6 points 88-82 with 7:27 remaining in the game. The Titans, however, got their bearings back and had their own 8-2 scoring run led by Jerl Ferrer, pushing the lead back to double digits and holding on to the lead as the game ended.

Team Titans will be back in action on July 21 against Team Alpha while Team OGs will face Team Bumblebees on July 28.
