Oilers drill ASPAC, secure semis showdown vs C&T
Richmond Oilers advanced to the semifinal round after defeating ASPAC, 95-78 at the continuation of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) Season 5 quarterfinals on Saturday, September 7 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.
The Oilers will face Group B’s top team, Cookies & Team in a best-of-three series beginning on September 14.
Dominic David led the Oilers in scoring with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Reigning MVP Abe Tanco also had a good game with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists.
ASPAC’s team captain VG Agdamag scored a career high 31 points, with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Kevin Vasquez had a double-double game with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
The Oilers set the pace of the game, taking advantage of ASPAC’s limited bench players. The game broke open in the third quarter with the Oilers leading by as much as 27 points.
