Predators outscore Hydra
Predators notched their first victory after subduing Hydra, 32-28, in the continuation of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) Season 5 women’s division elimination round on Saturday, July 20 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.
Rookie Jiezl-Ann Turo had a good debut game for the Predators, with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 rebounds. 2017 Most Valuable Player Jen Francisco dominated the boards with 14 rebounds while contributing 7 points.
Hydra team captain Chanty Saldivar led her team in scoring with 12 points plus 7 rebounds.
With only 6 players available in their bench, the Predators took advantage of Hydra’s missed shots and turnovers and built a formidable lead in the first quarter, 12-4. Two more Predator players arrived during the 2nd period. Hydra pounced back by the 3rd quarter and decreased the Predators’ lead by two points, but turnovers and missed shots hounded Hydra until the fourth quarter, sealing the win for the Predators.
Team Predators will be back in action on August 3 as they will be up against BNS.
