A solid debut performance by Chantal Saldivar carried her team Hydra to victory against Team BNS, 45-40 in the first women’s division game in 2 years at the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) Season 5 on Saturday, July 6 at the Asia Pacific College gymnasium.
Saldivar, Team Hydra captain, finished the game with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Frances Famillaran also had a good game with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Meanwhile, 2015 MVP Kaycee Carrillo led the BNS charge with 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 steals. Chloe Cambay finished with a double-double stat line of 10 points and 10 rebounds with 2 assists.
Hydra took control most of the game and led by as much as 12 points in the third quarter. BNS struggled to keep up as they committed 36 turnovers the entire game.
This was the first women’s division game in ABT since 2017. Before the game, APCRAA President and ABT commissioner Dann Garcia did a ceremonial toss.
The next women’s division game will be on July 20, with Hydra up against Predators.
