Cookies & Team (C&T) won its third straight game in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) Season 5 men’s division elimination round at the expense of Alpha, 84-73 on Saturday, August 3 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.
With the win, C&T tops the Group B standings and is one step closer to the twice-to-beat advantage in the crossover quarterfinal round.
C&T’s Norman Ringor had an explosive game, scoring 21 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Brix Estabillo finished with 18 points with 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Jap Puente continued his scoring streak for Alpha, with 40 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Alex Tagle and Jeff Dosado contributed 13 and 10 points respectively.
C&T took the lead throughout the first half, but Alpha managed to keep it below double digits. Alpha snatched the lead in the final minutes of the third period. However, crucial calls and missed shots hampered them in the final quarter, enabling C&T to regain the lead.
