Team Alpha scored their second win in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season Six men’s division elimination round after defeating Team OGs in overtime, 79-72 on Saturday, July 23 at the APC Gymnasium.
The win give Team Alpha a quarterfinals berth while team OGs need to win in in the play-in round in order to qualify to the quarterfinals.
Team OGs managed to have a six point lead with three minutes left in the fourth quarter. However, a three point basket by Magsalos plus free throws from Tagle forced the game into overtime. In the extension period, the OGs offense got crippled after Paraiso and Montemayor fouled out. Team Alpha managed to recapture the lead and hold it up until the final buzzer.
Jaycee Magsalos led Team Alpha with a season high 27 points, with 10 rebounds and 2 assists. Alex Tagle had a solid output of 18 points 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
For Team OGs, Mhar Paraiso had a near double double output with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 steals. Jon Timbre and JP Redelick contributed 17 and 16 points respectively.
