Aboboto gets 2nd career triple double, Knights set new records vs Sibak
Carlo Aboboto made his 2nd career triple double in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament as Team Knights deafeated Team Sibak, 110-29 on Saturday, June 10 at the APC Gymnasium.
The 6 year veteran made 20 points, 22 rebounds (11 offensive, 11 defensive), 12 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocks during the game, gaining his first triple-double output since July 22, 2017 when he is still playing with ASPAC Boys (now known as Sheesh).
Before the start of the game, the league honored Christian Tragico as he became the 11th player in league history to score at least 500 points in his career.
The 81-point lopsided win became the biggest winning margin in ABT history, breaking the previous record of 64 points set by Team Bumblebees when they defeated Sibak during the Season 6 elimination round on June 11, 2022. New team records were also set at the conclusion of this game: least points in a lost game (29 by Sibak, previous record was 37 set by Legacy on November 8, 2015 vs Team OGs), least points in a quarter (2 by Sibak in the 3rd quarter, previous record was 5 (1st quarter) set by Legacy on November 8, 2015 vs Team OGs) and most consecutive unanswered points (30-0 by Knigts, previous records was 22-0 set by team Knights during their game vs ASPAC on July 27, 2019).
Jovin Go and Jhonel de Luna scored 21 and 20 points respectively. JC Hermo, the league’s all time assists leader, tied the record for most assists in the game with 16 dimes.
Sibak’s Elkan Pekson and Ken Tesalona scored 8 points each for Sibak.
The Knights improve their win-loss record to 2-2 to remain in contention for a quarterfinal slot while Sibak remained winless in four outings.
Team Knights will play its final elimination round game against Team RamBall on June 17 while Team Sibak be back in action on June 24 facing Team Kings.
