Gummy Bears dethrones Knights, advances to SF

Gummy Bears thwarted a possible upset as they defeated defending champions Team Knights, 77-64, in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 7 do-or-die quarterfinals match on Saturday, July 8 at the APC Gymnasium.

The Gummies will advance to the best-of-three semifinal round to face RamBall while Team Knights’ semifinals appearance streak dating back to Season 4 (2018) comes to an end.

The game blew wide open in the second half thanks to a 9-0 blast by the Gummy Bears. Their lead went up by as much as 25 points in the third quarter.

Brix Estabillo was the Gummies’ top scorer with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Norman Ringor finished with a double double output of 13 points and 11 rebounds plus 3 assists. Rookie JP Estrella also had a double-double game of 12 points and 14 rebounds.

For the Knights, JC Hermo and Carlo Aboboto scored 15 points each. Aboboto grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double game.
