Montaril steps up as Titans keep Sibak winless
Team Titans pulled away with a victory and survived a Sibak comeback in the second half, 99-95, at the continuation of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 7 elimination round on Saturday, May 27 at the APC Gymnasium.
While Titans are holding on to the lead for much of the game, leading by as much as 23 points in the final quarter, Sibak orchestrated a 15-0 run with only two minutes left in the game, 97-93 before Titans got their bearings back and hold on to the lead until the final buzzer.
Rainiel Montaril scored a career high of 30 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists. John Al-ag also had a career high of 19 points plus 7 rebounds.
For Sibak, most of the scoring chores were made by Jess Carrillo, who became the game’s top scorer setting a new career high of 32 points, plus 14 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Julian Nones finished with a double-double performance of 22 points, and 13 rebounds.
Titans will return in action on June 3 as they face Team Kings while Sibak will be up against Team Knights on June 10.
