Oilers advances to Semis, downs Sheesh

Richmond Oilers have reached the semifinal round for the third straight season as they defeated Team Sheesh in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 7 quarterfinal round, 79-67, on Saturday, July 1, at the APC Gymnasium.

The Oilers will be facing Team OGs in the best of three semifinal round, which will begin on July 15.

The game was a close one during the first quarter. Tensions ensued after JR Quinia and JP Masa were given each a disqualifying foul for fighting. Regardless, the Oilers pushed on and was able to secure the lead, reaching by as much as 16 points in the fourth quarter, taking full advantage of their twice-to-beat incentive against Sheesh.

Renzo Macaraeg led the Oilers, finishing with 18 points, 21 rebounds and 3 assists. Jerl Ferrer had a double double game of 15 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists.

Missing the services of Joel Baloro, Peter Abarracoso and Levi Pe Benito carried Sheesh for the entire game. Abarracoso had an almost triple double output of 28 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists with 5 assists. Pe Benito scored 15 points, with 7 rebounds and 1 assist. Darrel Insigne also contributed 15 points for the team.
