Oilers sweeps Group A, crushes Titans

Richmond Oilers swept Group A of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 7 elimination round after defeating Team Titans, 103-87, on Saturday, June 17 at the APC Gymnasium.

The Oilers have claimed a twice-to-beat advantage going into the quarterfinal round, courtesy of their 5-0 undefeated win-loss record. Titans meanwhile slid down to third place and is waiting for the #2 seed in Group B.

The Titans have a good start in the first half, leading by as much as 15 points in the second quarter, but the Oilers managed to chip away the lead, thanks to the spurt led by Justine Abequibel, who finished with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Renzo Macaraeg gave the finishing kick in the second half, with a double-double performance of 31 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists.

Old reliable Justin Hernando led the Titans in scoring with a season high of 35 points, plus 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Gelo Vizconde had his best game so far this season with a double-double output of 12 points and 10 rebounds: his first double-double since Season 4 on August 4, 2018 against Team 2k15.
