Bacong tops MVP race
Jeff Bacong of Team Restbak currently leads the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 8 MVP race based on the accumulated statistical points (SP) in the elimination round and quarterfinals.
Bacong, last season’s Most Improved Player, garnered a total of 436 SPs after averaging 21.0 points, 2.4 assists and 17.8 rebounds per game. Both Guess dela Cuesta and Lean Carreon are in second with 420 statistical points while Arvin Masaoy comes in third with 412 SPs.

Meanwhile, Lean Carreon leads the Rookie of the Year race based on the accumulated statistical points in the eliminations and quarterfinals. Genesis Reyes of Stage One OGs comes in second place with 385 SPs while Jecar Rebalde is in third spot with 354 SPs.
Statistical points are computed as follows:
-1 SP for every point scored, rebound, assist, steal and shot blocked.
-Deduction of 1 SP for every turnover, 5 SP for every technical or flagrant foul without ejection, and 15 SP for any technical or flagrant foul that results in an ejection.
-Additional 10 SP will be added for every game won wherein the player saw action
-Additional 15 SP will be added for every playoff game won wherein the player saw action
The criteria for the Season MVP and Rookie of the year are as follows:
-50% Statistical points
-40% Players’ votes
-10% ABT Committee votes
In addition, the following individual citations will be awarded:
*Mythical 5
*All-Defensive Team
*Defensive player of the year
*Most improved player
For the first time in league history, the sportsmanship award will be given this season as well.
The ABT Annual Awards will be scheduled during Game 2 of the best-of-three semifinals on August 24.
