Richmond Oilers survive close game vs Alpha

Expansion team Richmond Oilers notched their first victory in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) Season 5 elimination round by defeating Alpha, 96-88, on Saturday, July 6 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.

Abe Tanco, the 2018 rookie MVP, had a solid performance for the Oilers with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Perennial scorer Jap Puente scored 27 points, grabbed 7 boards and dished 4 assists. Returning Alpha player Jeff Dosado had a double-double output of 28 points and 13 rebounds.

Both teams exchanged leads 9 times and tied the game on 13 occasions. A fourth quarter run headed by Lorenz Ysulan and Abe Tanco stretched the Oilers lead to a high 17 points, ensuring their victory until the final buzzer.

The next game for Richmond Oilers will be on July 27 against Team OGs while Alpha will meet Team Mille on July 13.
