Carreon saves day for Oilers

Richmond Oilers managed to slip away with a narrow victory against Team Restbak, 71-69, at the continuation of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 8 elimination round on Saturday, June 22 at the APC Gymnasium.

The Oilers got the go-ahead basket thanks from a steal and fastbreak layup from their rookie, Lean Carreon with only a few seconds remaining in the game. Carreon finished the game with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

Sophomore Kyle Trinidad has a breakout game, leading the Oilers in the scoring department with 19 points plus 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

For Team Restbak, three players scored in double digits led by Christian Gabon with 18 points plus 14 rebounds and 3 assists. Jeff Bacong also finished with a double-double contribution of 16 points and 18 rebounds with 4 assists and 2 blocks. Lance Casoy added 15 points for Restbak plus 2 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Oilers will be back in action on July 6 facing Team Sibak while Team Restbak will be up against Stage One OGs on June 29.
