Krispy Team still unbeaten, drub Elite Hoopers
Krispy Team kept their undefeated streak going as they defeated Elite Hoopers in their APCRAA Basketball Tournament quarterfinals matchup, 92-87, on Saturday, August 17 at the APC Gymnasium.
With their backs against the wall and facing with a twice-to-win disadvantage, the Hoopers managed to hold the lead in the first half by as much as 10 points. However, a crucial injury forced Carlo Aboboto sit out the first minutes of the third quarter, giving room for a Krispy Team run orchestrated by Brix Estabillo, holding a 15-point advantage going into the fourth quarter.
The Hoopers tried to do another surge in the final quarter but Krispy Team did enough to hold onto to the lead until the final buzzer.
Estabillo finished the game with 24 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Alex Tagle, who became the 3rd member of the 100-steals club contributed 15 points, 2 assists and 1 block. Norman Ringor had a double-double output of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Elite Hoopers, Peter Abarracoso top all scorers with 30 points with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Carlo Aboboto had 14 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
Krispy Team will meet Stage One OGs in the best-of-three semifinals beginning August 17.
