Krispy Team will enter the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Finals for the fourth straight time as they defeated Stage One OGs in OG during Game 2 of their semifinals series in overtime, 85-82, on Saturday, August 24 at the APC Gymnasium.
Krispy Team maintained their undefeated streak of 10 wins, dating back from Game 2 of Season 7 finals against Richmond Oilers. They will also have the chance to defend their championship as they wait for the winner of the Oilers-Knights semis series, which will be played on August 31.
In maybe one of the best games this season, Krispy Team overcame a Stage One OGs lead, which rose by as much as 14 points in the first half, and forced overtime thanks to a Brix Estabillo basket, tying the game at 72-all. In the extension period, Krispy Team got the lead for the first time since the 1st quarter.
In the dying seconds of overtime, the OGs had a chance to regain the lead after Pepe Canseco got a rebound from a missed shot by JV Reyes. JP Redelick attacked the basket but was clobbered by the Krispy Team defense. Estabillo got the rebound in the mixup and drove a fastbreak layup, sealing the win for Krispy Team.
Estabillo finished the game with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Alex Tagle and Guess dela Cuesta contributed 18 and 12 points respectively.
For the Stage One OGs, Genesis Reyes had a career high of 34 points and 15 rebounds. Sean Montemayor added 19 points for the OGs cause while JP Redelick had 13 points with 5 assists.
