ABT Season 9 to feature two men’s division tournaments

For the first time in APCRAA Basketball Tournament’s history, the men’s division will be split into two tournaments.

The plan was approved by the APCRAA Board of Trustees, with consultation from the 11 team captains that will be participating in Season 9.

Under the new format, the top six teams in Season 8 will be assigned in the elite division while the other teams will be designated in the d-league division. Both tournaments will have a separate set of champions and individual awards. The champion in the d-league division will be promoted to the elite division the following season, while the last place team in the elite division will be relegated to the d-league division.

This format will encourage the lower tier teams from the past seasons to be promoted to the elite division and at the same time, a different set of awards and championships will be at stake, giving the d-league players a chance to be rewarded for their efforts.
