Paraiso, Canseco top MVP race heading into championship

Mhar Paraiso of Team OGs and Pepe Canseco of Team Warriors gathered the highest total statistical points after the semifinal round of the 2015 APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2nd Conference men’s division.

As of December 5, Paraiso, who averages 15 points and 15.88 rebounds, overtook Norman Ringor in the MVP race after winning their game against Team Bumblebees, accumulating 325 total statistical points (SPs).

Canseco, on the other hand, with 8.6 points and 16.20 rebounds per game, finished in second place with 291.6 total SPs.

Bumblebee’s Norman Ringor slid down to third place with 287 SPs. Ringor finished the tournament with double-double averages of 16.86 points and 17.14 rebounds per game.

Statistical points are computed as follows:

-1 SP for every point scored, rebound, assist, steal and shot blocked.

-Deduction of 1 SP for every turnover, 5 SP for every technical or flagrant foul without ejection, and 15 SP for any technical or flagrant foul that results in an ejection.

-Additional 10 SP will be added for every game won wherein the player saw action

-Additional 15 SP will be added if the player saw action after winning in the finals

-For forfeited games, the individual statistical points that the winning team will receive from this game will be based on their averages per game pre- or post- defaulting game, plus an additional 10 statistical points for the game won. The defaulting team will receive 0.00 statistical points.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) will be determined at the conclusion of the tournament with the following criteria:

-40% AABT Committee votes
