Keng’s scorches Ram Squad

Team Keng’s won their debut game against the Ram Squad, 79-29 at the continuation of the APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2016 Season Women’s Division elimination round on Saturday, August 27 at the APC Gymnasium.

Micmac Iida led the Keng’s with a double-double performance of 20 points and 10 rebounds, plus 6 assists and 2 steals. Jhen Constantino also had a double-double game with 15 points and 12 rebounds, puls 7 assists. Two more players, Niña Algoso and Yin De Jesus scored in double digits.

For the Ram Squad, Meriam Belamede and DJ Ramirez led the team in scoring as Jen Francisco and Ella Taroma were not present in the game.

With only 6 players available for Team Keng’s at the start of the game, the Ram Squad prevented to blow the game from the opening tip and maintaned a single digit deficit at the end of the first quarter, 14-3. The Ram Squad were able to score more points at the second quarter, but Team Keng’s were able to increase their lead to 20 before the end of the quarter, 35-15.

As more players from Team Keng’s arrived at the venue, the lead began to increase with the help of Jhen Constantino, Micmac Iida and Nhoy Japitana. The game blew wide open in the fourth quarter and the Ram Squad were only able to score four points before the end of the game.

The Women’s Division will be back in action on September 10 as the two guest squads, Team Keng’s and Boleras will face off in the main game.
