Bumblebees sweep eliminations, beat team OGs
Team Bumblebees swept the elimination round of the APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2016 season Men’s Division elimination round as they defeated Team OGs, 89-74 on Saturday, September 17 at the APC Gymnasium.
The win secured Team Bumblebees’ hold at the top of the team standings and the twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals. They also tallied the second elimination round sweep in the tournament’s history after it was done by Team Warriors in last year’s second conference.
Norman Ringor had his fifth straight double-double game with 20 points and 16 rebounds, with 4 assists and 2 steals. Joemark Belardo had a scorching night in the three point arc, shooting 6 out of 10 shots at the rainbow country. He finished the game with a career high 32 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 steals. Brix Estabillo came in second in scoring with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
Mhar Paraiso did the scoring chores for Team OGs with a double-double game of 26 points and 10 rebounds, with 4 assists and 4 steals. Paolo Diaz and Ryan Go also helped in scoring with 19 and 13 points respectively.
Team OGs tried to match the scoring output of the Bumblebees and keep the game close, despite missing the services of JP Redelick. In the fourth quarter, missed shots and turnovers hounded the OGs, as the Bumblebees began to make their shots in the three point line. The Bumblebees sealed their victory with a 9-0 run in to the last two minutes of the game.
The OGs will play their final elimination round game against Team Alpha on September 24.
