Bumblebees survives late-game ASPAC Boys onslaught, wins Men’s Division championship
Team Bumblebees successfully swept the APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2016 season men’s division by defeating the ASPAC Boys in the championship game, 75-72 on Saturday, October 15 at the APC Gymnasium.
Norman Ringor of team Bumblebees had his seventh consecutive double-double game of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Joemark Belardo topped the Bumblebees in the scoring column, finishing with 23 points, with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
For the ASPAC Boys, Mark Pagaduan led the team in scoring with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Carlo Aboboto also heavily contributed in the team’s scoring with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists.
The championship game was very tight in the first half, with both teams exchanging leads 5 times and tying the game on 3 occasions.
In the third quarter, the Bumblebees made a 9-0 blast, pushing them ahead up to 14 points as the ASPAC Boys struggled in making their field goal attempts.
The ASPAC Boys decreased the Bumblebees’ lead by making their own scoring run, reducing it to just 4 points with 3 minutes remaining in the game. The Bumblebees showed their defensive prowess to hold off the ASPAC Boys and won the game with a three point cushion.
