Team Alpha started their tournament campaign in the right direction after defeating Team ASPAC, 78-68 at the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) 2017 season men’s division elimination round on Saturday, July 15 at the APC Gymnasium.
Alex Tagle headed the Alpha charge with 23 points, 4 out of 7 in the three-point arc, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jeff Dosado followed suit with 14 points and 8 rebounds.
Levi Pe Benito of Team ASPAC had a career double-double game with 17 points and 12 rebounds, plus 4 assists and 2 steals. 2016 season Rookie of the Year Joseph Gamboa also had a double-double game with 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Alpha led the whole game, reaching by as much as 20 points in the third quarter. Team ASPAC, the runners-up in last year’s tournament, was not able to keep up; Carlo Aboboto and VG Agdamag also missed Saturday’s game.
