Bumblebee grounds Avengers, keep spotless record

Still undefeated dating back from their first game last season, Team Bumblebees grounded Avengers, 93-86, for their second victory in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament 2017 season men’s division eliminations on Saturday, July 15 at the APC Gymnasium.

Two players from the Bumblebees side got a double-double: Brix Estabillo with 27 points and 10 rebounds, plus 3 assists and 2 steals, and reigning MVP Norman Ringor with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Arie Altre also gave the Bumblebees a good scoring production with 13 points, shooting 5 out 6 markers inside the 3 point arc.

2015 1st Conference MVP Archie Gratil topped the Avengers in scoring output, finishing with 13 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists. Ron Perez and Edwin Gratil contributed with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The game was a back-and-forth battle during the first quarter. A scoring outburst from Estabillo and Joemark Belardo claimed the lead for the Bumblebees before halftime.

The Bumblebees run was sustained up to the fourth quarter, with the team leading by as high as 13 points. Archie Gratil sparked a scoring run for the Avengers, but it was quickly doused by the opposition. The Bumblebees held on to the lead until the final buzzer.
