Dream Team sweeps Women’s Division series

Dream Team nailed their fifth win against Team Rams, 39-30 at the conclusion of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) 2017 Women’s Division five-game series on Saturday, September 2, at the APC Gymnasium.

The forfeit rules for Game 5 were relaxed since Dream Team is assured of the championship regardless of the results of the game. Dream Team only had four players in their roster, while Team Rams also had four, but was allowed to insert former Team Rebels player Nikkie Resuello-Tesalona as a last minute addition in their lineup.

Ella Taroma of Dream Team led all players in scoring, finishing with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Casey Carillo finished the game with 10 points and 18 rebounds. For the Rams, Chloe Cambay got her shooting skills back, scoring 16 points with 12 rebounds. Mary Rose Flores comes in second with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

The game was played with four players each. In the first half, Team Rams held on to the lead, but fatigue set in as Dream Team had a 10-2 scoring run in the third quarter. The Dream Team then broke the game open in the fourth quarter, establishing a double-digit lead.

The awarding ceremoines for the women’s division followed afterwards. The championship trophy was presented by Tournament Commissioner Dann Garcia to the four Dream Team players.
