Complications abound as Men’s Division wraps up eliminations

All teams in the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) 2017 season Men’s Division are jockeying up as the last three games of the elimination round will be played on August 12 at the APC Gymnasium.

Team ASPAC and Bumblebees have assured themselves of a playoff seat while the rest of the teams will slug it out for the final two playoff tickets. The scheduled games are as follows:

5:00pm – OGs vs Bumblebees
6:30pm – Alpha vs Avengers
8:00pm – ASPAC vs Cavs

The results of these games have eight different scenarios and will impact the playoffs, which will begin on August 19.

If Bumblebees / Alpha / Cavs wins:

Bumblebees will top the standings at 4-1, ASPAC and Alpha will be tied, at 3-2. Due to ASPAC’s win over Alpha last July 15, ASPAC will place second and will have twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals vs. Alpha. OGs and Cavs will be tied, with a 2-3 card. Due to the OGs’ win over Cavs last July 15, OGs will get the 4th spot and will face Team Bumblebees in the semifinals with a twice-to-beat disadvantage. Both Cavs and Avengers will be eliminated.

If Bumblebees / Alpha / ASPAC wins:

ASPAC and Bumblebees will be tied in first place with a 4-1 card. Both will have twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals. Due to ASPAC’s win over Bumblebees on August 5, ASPAC will be in first place. Team Alpha will be locked down in third place. OGs and Cavs will be tied, with a 2-3 card. Due to the OGs’ win over Cavs last July 15, OGs will get the 4th spot and will face Team Bumblebees in the semifinals with a twice-to-beat disadvantage. Both Cavs and Avengers will be eliminated.

If Bumblebees / Avengers / Cavs wins:

Bumblebees will top the standings at 4-1, followed by ASPAC with 3-2. Both teams will have twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals. Teams Alpha, OGs, Avengers, and Cavs will all be tied up with a 2-3 card. Since none of the tied teams have won all of their games agaist their opponents, the quotient system will be applied. The final score of Alpha vs. Avengers will be critical in the quotient computation.

If Bumblebees / Avengers / ASPAC wins:

ASPAC and Bumblebees will be tied in first place with a 4-1 car. Both will have twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals. Avengers, OGs and Alpha will be tied up at 2-3. Since the Avengers have won against both OGs and Alpha, they will secure the third place. Team OGs have also defeated Alpha on August 5, thus securing the fourth and final playoff seat. Both Alpha and Cavs will be eliminated.

If OGs / Alpha / Cavs wins:

Teams ASPAC, OGs, Bumblebees and Alpha will be tied in first place with a 3-2 card. Since none of the tied teams have won all of their games against their opponents, the quotient system will be applied to determine which teams will have twice to beat advantage in the semifinals. The final score of the game between Team OGs and Bumblebees will be crucial in the quotient computation. Cavs will end up in 5th place with a 2-3 card, while Avengers will finish with a 1-4 card. Both teams will be eliminated.

If OGs / Alpha / ASPAC wins:

ASPAC will secure first place with a 4-1 card. Team Bumblebees, OGs and Alpha will be tied in second place. Due to OGs victories against Bumblebees and Alpha, they will secure 2nd place and will get twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals by virtue of the win-over-the-other rule. Team Bumblebees will finish at 3rd place and Alpha will be at 4th place. Cavs and Avengers will be eliminated, both having a 1-4 record.

If OGs / Avengers / Cavs wins:

ASPAC, OGs and Bumblebees will be tied in first place. Since ASPAC defeated both OGs and Bumblebees, they will secure the first place. OGs have defeated the Bumblebees, thus securing 2nd place. Bumblebees will be locked at third place. Teams Avengers, Alpha and Cavs will all be tied up at fourth place with a 2-3 card. No team from this group have swept their game against their tied opponents, thus the quotient system will be applied. The final score of Alpha vs. Avengers will be critical in the quotient computation.

If OGs / Avengers / ASPAC wins:

ASPAC will secure first place with a 4-1 card. Both OGs and Bumblebees will be tied in 2nd place with a 3-2 record. Team OGs will secure 2nd place due to their win against the Bumblebees. Team Avengers and Alpha will be tied in fourth place, both having a 2-3 record. Avengers will advance in the semifinals due to their win against Team Alpha. Cavs will finish with a 1-4 record and will be eliminated together with Team Alpha.
