Six teams in the men’s division and two teams in the women’s division will participate in the upcoming APCRAA Alumni Basketball Tournament (AABT) 2nd Conference.
An orientation was held last September 5 to discuss the house rules and tournament format. APCRAA was represented by Tournament Commissioner Dann Garcia and SOAB representative Miguel Montalban, while the participating teams were represented by Richard Allan Viray (OG’s, M), Raisa Nasara (Dream Team, W), Jam Lardizabal (Legacy, M), Jeff Montojo (Legacy, M), Chloe Cambay (Rebels, W), Dianne Mercado (Rebels, W) and Winston Alcantara (Burnout, M). Also present is the referee’s representative to discuss the technical aspects of the calls and violations for basketball.
The tournament format for the men’s division will be a single round-robin elimination round, with each team having five games each. The top two teams after the eliminations will automatically enter the semifinals while the lower four teams will compete in a crossover quarterfinals playoff. The two winners will face the top two teams in the semifinals in a one game playoff to determine the who will enter the winner-take-all finals, which is tentatively scheduled on December 5.
For the women’s division, the tournament format is still being finalized as the teams still lack additional teams.
The opening ceremonies for the AABT 2nd Conference will be held at the APC Gymnasium on September 12 at 5pm.
