2K15 halts Titans

Team 2k15 won its third game in the 2018 season of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) elimination round by defeating Team Titans by a large margin, 107-83 on Saturday, August 4 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.

2k15’s Guess dela Cuesta registered his first career triple-double (14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists), while former MVP Archie Gratil and rookie Abe Tanco led the team in scoring with 22 points each. RJ Villegas also played his best game so far this season with 15 points, 3 assists and 4 steals.

Titans’ Jerl Ferrer is the game’s leading scorer with 27 points plus 18 rebounds and 3 blocks. Gelo Visconde had a double-double game as well, tallying 12 points and 15 rebounds with 3 blocks.

Team 2k15 marched out from the opening buzzer with an 18-0 run, setting a new ABT all-time record for most consecutive unanswered points from the start of a game. The 1st quarter closed with 2k15 having a commanding lead, 35-14.

A 20-minute delay between the 1st and 2nd quarters occured as the lights in the APC gymnasium were connected through a generator and needed to be put back to normal power. The delay gave Team Titans some breathing period as they started the 2nd quarter with a 10-4 run. However, 2k15 kept on pouncing points with the help of Archie Gratil and Tanco. The 2k15 blew the game wide open by the 2nd half and their lead reached as high as 38 points in the final quarter.

Both teams will be in action on August 11 as Team Titans will face Team Mille at 6:30pm followed by rivals Team 2k15 and Team OGs at 8:00pm.
