2K15 tames Alpha, climbs to top spot

Team 2K15 secured the top spot of the 2018 APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) elimination round standings after defeating Team Alpha, 102-92, on Saturday, September 1, at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.

Team 2K15 also earned one of two twice-to-beat incentives going into the semifinal round, which will begin on September 15.

Guess Dela Cuesta continued his good performance this season, scoring 27 points with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. His rookie teammate Abe Tanco also contributed well, with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Pepe Canseco dominated the boards with 18 rebounds while contributing 12 points and 4 assists to his team’s performance.

Alpha’s rookie sensation Jap Puente topped all players in the scoring department with 29 points with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. Jaycee Magsalos came in second for Team Alpha with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

Team Alpha was able to hold off 2K15 to break the game wide open, and maintained a 10 point gap in the first half, despite having only five players with no available substitutes. By the second half, fatigue set in and 2k15 launched a 10-4 run in the third quarter to pull away with the victory.
