Team Alpha scored an important come-from-behind victory after downing Team OGs, 75-70 at the continuation of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) Season 5 Men’s Division elimination round on Saturday, August 10 at the Asia Pacific College gymnasium.
The win gives Alpha a quarterfinals berth, finishing the eliminations with a 2-2 win-loss record. Team OGs need to win their last game against Mille on August 24 for them to have a chance to advance to the quarterfinals.
Jap Puente led Alpha in scoring, with 30 points, plus 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Jess Carrillo added 19 points and 5 rebounds to the Alpha statsline.
OGs’ AJ Yambao finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. JP Redelick had 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
OGs took advantage of Alpha’s limited bench in the first three quarters. Alpha only had 6 players available throughout the game.
In the fourth quarter, crucial errors hounded the OGs and Alpha captured the lead for the first time, 65-64 with 5:35 left in the fourth quarter. Alpha held on to the lead up to the final buzzer.
