Oilers edges Cookies

Richmond Oilers is one step closer away for entering the APCRAA Basketball Tournament (ABT) Season 5 Men’s Division championship round after defeating Cookies & Team, 89-86 on Saturday, September 14 at the Asia Pacific College Gymnasium.

The Oilers’ Abe Tanco had his first career triple double game of 27 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. JP Bayog contributed 24 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists – his largest scoring output so far this season.

Guess Dela Cuesta of Cookies ended the game with a double-double output of 23 points and 10 rebounds. Brix Estabillo scored 21 points and grabbing 5 rebounds throught the game.

The Oilers started the game with a 15-4 run in the first quarter to have a comfortable lead. Meanwhile, Cookies were able to bounce back in the second quarter and were able to decrease the Oilers lead to 3 by halftime. The Oilers tried to pull away but Cookies were able to stay close up to the final minute of the game. Cookies had a chance to get the lead for the first time in the game but was not able to shoot the go-ahead basket. The Oilers were able to hold on to the lead until the final buzzer.
