Team Mille swept Group B of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Seaosn Six men’s division after getting their fourth straight victory against Team 2k18, 69-68 on Saturday, July 23 at the APC Gymnasium.
This is the best elimination round finish for Team Mille since joining the alumni league in 2018. They will also have a twice-to-beat advantage, together with Richmond Oilers going into the quarterfinals.
David Yokoi led the charge for Team Mille with 26 points, 2 rebounds 2 assists and 5 steals. Christian Javier contributed 15 points with 7 rebounds and 2 assists.
The game went down the wire in the last two minutes, after 2k18 led by as much as 9 points at the start of the fourth quarter. Ryan Acdal and David Yokoi scored the necessary baskets to give Mille a three point lead with one minute left. Guess dela Cuesta and Joel Carag scored back to tie the game at 68-all. Javier then gave Mille a one point lead with a free throw shot. 2k18 tried to regain the lead but dela Cuesta missed a potential game winning three point shot.
Dela Cuesta led 2k18 with a double-double output of 24 points and 13 rebounds with 3 assists. Archie Gratil scored 16 points with 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
