Team Mille remains the only undefeated team in Group B in the ongoing APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season Six men’s division elimination round after defeating Team Knights in overtime, 86-80, on Saturday, July 16 at the APC Gymnasium.
With the win, Team Mille secured the group’s top seed and its twice to beat advantage.
Christian Javier had his best output this season for Team Mille with 15 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists. David Yokoi is the top scorer of the team with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Ryan Go also had a double-double output with 14 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists.
Christian Tragico led the Knights in scoring with 28 points, 6 out of 13 from the three point arc. Mark Rivera had a solid debut this season with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists.
The game was tight up to the fourth quarter, when Tragico exploded with four consecutive three point baskets, propelling the Knights with a 5 point lead with less than 25 seconds remaining. This feat also tied the most consecutive three point shots made in a game, set by Daniel Patrick Trinidad on August 19, 2017. The celebration was short as Yokoi made two crucial free throws and Acdal making a three point basket to send the game into overtime.
In Overtime, fatigue set in to the Knights as Mille continued scoring, giving them a safe margin at the final buzzer.
Team Mille will be back in action on July 23 as they will face Team 2k18 in the final game of the elimination round.
