Team Gummy Bears’s championship redemption started with a bang after a dominating victory against new team Restback on Saturday, May 6, during Opening Day of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 7 at the APC Gymnasium.
The team formerly known as Bumblebees limited Restback to 9 points in the first and fourth quarters.
Carlos Galido scored 15 points with 5 rebounds and 3 assists for the Gummy Bears while Guess dela Cuesta and Brix Estabillo scored 13 points.
During halftime, a special citation was given to Brix Estabillo after he became the first player in the alumni basketball tournament history to score at least 1000 career points. The award was given by Ms. France Marie Sumang, APC Alumni Affairs head and Dann Garcia, APCRAA President and APCRAA Basketball Tournament commissioner.
For Team Restbak, Jeff Bacong was their leading scorer with 17 points with 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Christian Gabon contributed 11 points and 3 rebounds.
Both teams will be back in action on May 20 as Team Gummy Bears will face Team Mamba while Team Restbak will be up against Team Sheeesh.
