Team Gummy Bears successfully swept Group B of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 7 elimination round after defeating Team OGs, 80-74, on Saturday, June 17 at the APC Gymnasium.
The Gummies will have twice-to-beat advantage in the Quarterfinal round and will be facing their last season’s finals opponent, Team Knights. Meanwhile, Team OGs is currently in 2nd place and will lock down in the #2 seed if they beat Team Mille on June 24.
While the Gummies lead most of the game, reaching by as much as 21 points in the fourth quarter, a scoring run led by Pepe Canseco and JP Redelick decreased the lead by 4 points with less than 2 minutes left in the game. The OGs have the opportunity to decrease the lead further to two points but they missed four consecutive baskets in the paint. Brix Estabillo scored the clinch basket in the insuing play, securing the victory for the Gummies.
Norman Ringor, who played his first game this season, top all scorers for the Gummies with 16 points, plus 6 rebounds. Guess dela Cuesta had a double-double output of 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. Lester de Luna and Joemark Belardo scored 11 points each.
For Team OGs, JP Redelick led the charge with 25 points, with four out of ten shots made in the three point arc, plus 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Pepe Canseco has a monstrous perfomance in the boards, grabbing 21 rebounds while scored 13 points. Ralph Artigas also claimed 18 rebounds and scored 12 points.
