Team RamBall scored an important victory in the ongoing APCRAA Basketball Tournament Season 7 elimination round after defeating defending champions Team Knights, 68-65 on Saturday, June 17 at the APC Gymnasium.
The win give RamBall the #2 seed in Group A and are waiting for the results of the remaining games in Group A to find out their opponent, while the Knights slid down to fourth place and will be facing last year’s runners-up Team Bumblebees with a twice-to-win disadvantage in the quarterfinals regardless of the results of the Kings-Sibak game on June 24.
While the Knights were leading in the first half, it’s a different story in the second half, thanks to the heroics of Arvin Masaoy, who scored 16 of his 20 point output in the fourth quarter, including the crucial basket in the 1:29 mark of the fourth quarter while the game is tied at 61-all, enough to snatch the lead for RamBall. Jaycee Magsalos also had a good night for RamBall, having a double-double output of 12 points, 13 rebounds with 1 assist and 3 steals.
For the Knights, Carlo Aboboto carried the scoring load with 20 points and 13 rebounds. JC Hermo also finished with a double-double stat line of 10 points, 10 assists with 8 rebounds.
