After more than two years, the 6th season of the APCRAA Basketball Tournament formally opened on Saturday, June 4 at the Asia Pacific College gymnasium.
This is the first major event organized by APCRAA since 2020, after the COVID-19 pandemic struck.
Representatives from the ten men’s division and two women’s division teams took part in the traditional parade of teams. Tournament Commissioner and APCRAA president Dann Garcia gave the opening remarks and thanked the teams for participating this season.
Barangay Magallanes Chairman Jose Mari Alzona also gave a short message to the participating alumn. Chairman Alzona, who also is an APC alumnus was awarded with the Rams Exemplerly Award for his contributions to the APC and to its alumni community.
The new set of APCRAA Board officers took their oathtaking afterwards. Chairman Alzona led the new officers to their oath of office. The officers will serve the APCRAA board for three years, until 2025.
Predators team captain and 2019 rookie of the year Jiezl-Ann Turo led the players for the oath of sportsmanship. Then Dr. Ma. Teresita “Tata” Medado gave the closing remarks and formally declared the season open.
